Our Acrylic In The TV & Film Industry
Granada Television used our clear acrylic thick sheet and block to construct the bridge shown & various other parts of the Gladiators Set.
The BBC contacted us for help when they wanted to film a polar bear from underneath as if it were being filmed from under the ice.
We used our FEA experience to calculate the thickness of clear acrylic block required to safely support the weight of the bear. The film was used for the Predators series. Click the polar bear image to view the film footage.
One of our customers supplied Warner Brothers with acrylic tubes for the recent Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie. Some tubes were used in constructing the stools for the squirrels in the "Nut Sorting Room". They also supplied the large diameter acrylic tubes which were used to suck up the Augustus who had fallen into the river of liquid chocolate.
We also supplied 11 tons of 25mm clear acrylic sheet to Lucas Films for their Star Wars film "The Phantom Menace". It was used in the construction of the floor and tiers in the Gungan City set. You can see this in the scene where Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn are brought to stand before the Gungan King.
Sadly it has not been possible to gain permission from Warner Brothers or Lucas Films to show images for the above two case studies on this web site.
